Snow Gods- Are You Listening? It's me, Jessica...

It was this weekend last year that the first round of Snowmageddon blasted the Washington DC area.
363 days ago that public school officials announced that schools would be closed until the beginning of January.
Today, however, it is depressingly cold with no sign of more than an inch of precipitation.
It is these facts that lead me to one important question:
where's the love?
Now as you know, I love my job.
And if this wasn't such a dire matter these thoughts wouldn't be creeping in.
But as we spin wildly closer to December 25th, it is becoming crystal clear how very far behind I am with my Christmas shopping.
I mean, I am a procrastinator by nature, but this is ridiculous.
So as I sit on an Amtrak train bound for New York City, I can't help but do a silent snow dance in my seat.
Because as much as I believe in my ability to spend hundreds of dollars faster than Santa can say Rudolph, I am in need of a no-nonsense snow day to get all of my shopping done.

The Snow Gods have teased me twice in the last 24 hours with both an early school closing and a 2-hour delay.
However, the inch and a half of snow that fell yesterday has not been joined by any flurry friends.
And clearly, unlike me, these snowflakes are not procrastinators, and are evaporating into thin air as quickly as they can.
But melting snow = clean, dry roads = no snow days before Christmas.
You can see why I'm taking issue with the Snow Gods.

If nothing else, playing in the (inch of) snow has made it feel even more like Christmastime.
And for this I am very thankful.

Speaking of thankful, I have had a whirlwind past 2 weeks!
I celebrated my anniversary in Palm Beach, Florida, threw a festive Christmas party, decorated my entire house until it screamed CHRISTMAS, and watched my Redskins lose pathetically to the Tampa Bay Bucs.
In person.
In the rain.
Here are just a few pictures I captured on these adventures.

Palm Beach, Florida 12.3.10 - 12.5.10
Nights 80 & 81
ENERGIZING.
SOAK IN THE SUNSHINE.
PEACEFUL.
RELAXATION.
JUST US.
LOVE.
HOLIDAY SPIRIT.
THREE STOOGES.
PARTY TIME.
GAME TIME.
RIVALS.
DRENCHED AND HAPPY.

And for the record, getting passes to hang out in the heated, covered Redskins Touchdown Club, before and during the game, with all I could eat and drink, with three people I find wildly entertaining, was absolutely, totally
awesome.

Next stop, the Big Apple!
